MADAR Privacy Policy

MADAR is designed as a local-first application for saving, organizing, managing, and sharing locations and trips.

Your privacy is important to us. MADAR does not require you to create an account, and MADAR v1.0 does not operate its own cloud database for storing your personal app data.

1. Information Stored on Your Device

MADAR stores your app data locally on your device.

This may include:

2. Location Permission

MADAR may request access to your device location when you use features such as Use My Current Location.

Location access is used to help determine your current coordinates and related geographic information.

MADAR does not continuously track your location in the background.

Location access occurs only when required by a feature you actively use.

3. Online Geographic Services

Some optional MADAR features use an external geographic service.

When these features are used, MADAR may send limited geographic information to the external geographic service, such as:

MADAR does not send your entire location database, trips, photos, notes, contacts, or other saved MADAR data to the external geographic service.

If the online geographic service is unavailable, MADAR remains usable and allows you to enter and save information manually.

4. Photos

Photos you add to MADAR are stored locally on your device.

MADAR does not automatically upload your photos to a MADAR server or cloud service.

Photos may only leave the application when you explicitly choose to share or export data that contains them.

5. Backup and Restore

MADAR provides a user-controlled manual Backup and Restore feature.

Backup files use the .madar.json format.

Creating, saving, sharing, transferring, or restoring these files is initiated by you.

MADAR v1.0 does not participate in Android OS / Google cloud automatic backup for application data.

You are responsible for keeping your own backup files if you want to restore your data after uninstalling MADAR, resetting the app, or changing devices.

6. Sharing

MADAR allows you to explicitly share locations, trips, groups, backups, or related information.

Sharing only occurs when you initiate the action.

Once information is shared with another application, person, or service, the handling of that information is subject to the privacy practices of the recipient or third-party service.

7. Accounts

MADAR v1.0 does not require user registration, login, or a MADAR account.

8. Advertising and Analytics

MADAR v1.0 does not contain advertising SDKs.

MADAR v1.0 does not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

MADAR v1.0 does not use third-party crash-reporting SDKs.

9. Data Collection by MADAR

MADAR does not operate a server that collects or stores your saved locations, trips, photos, notes, contacts, or other application data.

Except for limited geographic information sent to an external geographic service when you actively use those features, your MADAR data remains stored locally on your device.

10. Data Deletion

You can delete individual information within MADAR where supported.

MADAR also provides Reset MADAR, which permanently deletes MADAR data stored internally on your device and returns the application to a fresh-install state.

Previously exported .madar.json files stored outside the application are not deleted by Reset MADAR.

11. Third-Party Services

Some optional geographic features in MADAR rely on an external geographic service.

That service operates independently from MADAR and may process requests according to its own privacy policy and terms of service.

12. Security

MADAR is designed to keep application data within the private storage of your device.

However, no device or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for protecting access to your device and any backup or shared files you create.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when MADAR features or data practices change.

Any revised version will include an updated effective date.
