June is Pride Month and the LGBTQ+ community in London is getting ready for this momentous annual event. If you’re visiting the city and staying in Park City Grand Plaza Kensington for the parade, here are some tips to help you get by.
No Need for Tickets!
Unlike some pride held all over the globe, the London Pride is free. All areas and events are open to the public. That includes the main stage which is where most of the shows will be held. This means you can enjoy the event without shelling out a dime.
Use the Underground
Getting to know the London Underground can be overwhelming at first but once you get the hang of it, you can save a lot of money on taxi fares. Just remember that the lines run East to West or North to South. They also color-coded and the arrivals are pretty frequent.
Book Early!
London is expensive, that’s a given fact. But if you book pretty far ahead, you might get big discounts from airfare and hotel accommodations. Check on TripAdvisor for great deals. Also, try Selesa Restaurant Kensington after the parade to have authentic Malaysian food.
Check the Route
Checking the route of the parade will ensure that you get the best possible view. Routes and starting times are two things you should keep in mind when planning ahead of the event. As much as possible, avoid the starting point.
Hashtag!
The social media was made for connecting with people. And there’s no better way to share your experience than putting in hashtags in your post. Get those hashtags ready by jotting them down in your notes.
Paint and Glitter
The Pride parade lets you go crazy with paint and glitter so be generous. Your motto should be ‘brighter is better’. Draw rainbows on your face and add some glitter. Wear it proud!
Shades
It can be in the form of an umbrella, a sunscreen lotion, or sunglasses. The parade can be sunny and hot. Protect your eyes and skin so your memories of the London Pride will not be of sunburn. Also, those big sunglasses look glamorous! When the sun gets too hot and bright, pull out that rainbow-colored umbrella!

Protect Your Valuables
Actually, it might be better not to bring them so you watch the parade without worry. Just bring cash. Wear tight jeans with no loose pockets. Drawstring bags are also more secure than backpacks, not to mention lighter.
What to Wear
Mind the weather but you can wear everything or nothing! It’s Pride month. Time to just be yourself without worry of being judged or prejudiced. You can wear anything and no one would even bat an eyelash. It’s an experience that should not be limited to what you wear.
Rainbow Flags
What’s a parade without flags? And since it’s the London Pride, your flag must be an explosion of rainbows and colors. You can wear your flag as a cape, print it on your shirt or hat, or even have it painted on your face. It’s your flag, your pride, so make sure people see it!
