LAURA HYUNJHEE KIM is a multimedia artist, blobologist, and certified Zumba instructor who contemplates and reimagines digitally constructed on/offline (non)human experiences. Thinking through making, she performs moments of incomprehension: when language loses its coherence, necessitates absurd leaps in logic, and reroutes into intuitive and improvisational sense-making forms of expression. Thematically, she researches on emerging trends and patterns in consumer grade technology that encourage human and (non)human interaction and speculates on shape-shifting bodily experiences and perceptions of the world.
She loves to daydream with others and has been tele-dancing ever since she could walk on her two feet.
The Living Lab is the life we are living as humans tethered to earth by the gravitational forces of existence and the presence of being. It is the process we make out of that living. It is in the making of these processes of the now.
The moments of curiosity that start from the untraining and unlearning inscriptions of everyday bodily experiences from consciously engaging with the way we speak, perform, talk to one another, and navigate this world alone together.
It is finding harmony within metaphorical contradictions and the discomforts of unknowing.
That everything will be okay even if we metamorph, change, and never stay the same.
