Open Poetry Night is a non-competitive space for writers to share their work and build community. Poets are welcome to share their own words, in whatever format they have. This includes short stories, poems (complete or incomplete), letters, diary entries, or working ideas. This is a space to experiment, fumble, find your voice, share your work, and bask in the presence of other writers and their work.
Logistics
All who participate in sharing their work will write their name on one piece of paper and will drop it into the hat. The host will introduce the event, and get things going by pulling a name out of the hat. After every person shares their work, they will pull the next name out of the hat until all names have been pulled. Depending on time, there might be more than one opportunity to share or space to workshop or practice writing prompts.
Guidelines for Writers
The work you share must be your own.
There is a loose time limit of 5 minutes, depending on the number of folks who want to share.
No hate speech, no nudity.
Support your fellow writers with respect and try your best to stay for the entirety of the event when you can.
Consider a content warning if you think it might be appropriate.
