READ THE RESEARCH: Which is more effective for learning: typing or writing by hand?
Literacy is an essential part of the learning process. In order to prepare students for college and careers, we must improve the reading proficiency of all students. To accomplish this, literacy - including reading, writing, & vocabulary - should be embedded in all units, resulting in reinforcement of critical reading skills, improved reading comprehension, stronger word attack skills, and deeper understanding of your content.
To help you embed literacy into your lessons, I created this site for all the teachers who want to include reading, vocabulary, and writing strategies, but just don't know where to start. Within this site, you will find strategies for reading, vocabulary, and writing, and even sources to find leveled texts for your content area. All strategies are research-based and have been implemented successfully in my classrooms over the years. If something does not quite work, I am available to offer further guidance on how to ensure literacy success in your classroom.
Happy Reading!
