An Interview with Nikole Lisovyy

Nikole Lisovyy made it to states this season where she placed 3rd in the PIAA Singles Tennis Tournament. This was her second year competing at states, after placing first in the 2018 season. She prepared for the competition by pushing herself and putting in a lot of time training with her teammates and at Legacy, the tennis club at which she trains. She says, “It felt amazing to be at states for a second year in a row, especially with the support of my two coaches and the team captains there with me.” In future seasons, Nikole hopes to perform better than she had before and strives to get first place, like she did her freshman year. She thanks Coach Hausman and Coach Titus for helping and supporting her throughout the entire journey. She also thanks the team captains, Ally Cheiken and Maeve McErlean, for supporting her at states and throughout the season.

An Interview with Leena Saidi

Leena Saidi began preparing for cross country in the summer; she ran twice a day to build up her mileage until September. Then, she focused on strengthening and speed training to prepare for races. The difficult training helped to make the meets feel easier. While at states, Leena says that “it was nerve-racking to be standing alone, without a team for the first time.” Although it was scary it be surrounded by the best runners in the stare, Leena avoided comparing herself to others and looked at the competition as an opportunity to improve her skill. Leena hopes to have a great indoor and spring track season and hopes to make it to States again. Leena would also like to thank her coaches for guiding her and helping her through the entire season and her parents for supporting her and always coming to watch her run. She is also thankful for her friends and teammates that constantly supported her.
