Numerical Simulation of Mode-Mixity in Glass-Fiber Metal Laminates: I performed an Abaqus simulation to study the fracture toughness (Mode-II) of Glass-Fiber Metal Laminates (GFML) and analyzed their mode-mixity. GFMLs are composite materials with alternating layers of glass fiber and metal, known for their high strength-to-weight ratio. Understanding their fracture toughness is crucial in optimizing their design and structural performance.
Simulation of cyclic voltammetry for structural supercapacitors: I simulated cyclic voltammetry for structural supercapacitors using COMSOL Multiphysics. Our computational modelling explored electrochemical behavior, performance, and factors impacting capacitance, charging/discharging kinetics, and structural integrity. The results provided valuable insights for advanced energy storage solutions and supercapacitor designs.
Numerical Analysis of 2D Bar Subjected to UDL Loading: I used MATLAB to analyze a 2D bar’s response to uniform distributed loading (UDL). Finite element methods were employed to simulate the bar’s behavior, including evaluating stress distribution, deformation patterns, and critical failure points. The findings were examined to better understand structural integrity and performance under different loading scenarios.
Characterization of Carbon nanotubes on Carbon Fiber and in Epoxy Matrix: This project aims to analyze carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in a composite material made of carbon fiber and epoxy matrix. CNTs have excellent mechanical, electrical, and thermal properties that can improve the performance of composite materials. We have used Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM) to fabricate composite specimens with varying concentrations of CNTs and observe their morphology and dispersion at micro and nanoscales.
