This event will focus on combined arms using Bastions as a major source of force multiplication. Players will be confined to a designated area and points will be awarded based on the criteria below. The side with the most points at the end of match time will be declared the winner. Non-mandatory signup sheet.
Since doing The Last Bastion over a year ago we have made some changes to the rules based on player feedback. Notably we've changed base captures to be a bigger part of the event. Points will now be awarded based on the size of the facility; Small outposts keep the 1 point per cap from last time, large outposts will award 2 points and facilities will award 3 points.
We have also changed the duration of the event, now the match will last 60 minutes or until a single faction reaches 65 points. Whichever side is in the lead at the end of regulation time or whichever side reaches the point limit first will be declared the winner. The reason for this is the last event lasted too long and we wanted to combat that this time around for a more engaging event.
Lastly, we have also adjusted the maps to be fairer to all sides. We hope these changes cover the issues from the first event, and will create a better experience for everyone.

Next to this text you can find our map choices for the event.
With how most continent's lattices are laid out it is hard to get a smaller map with balanced lanes. The biggest reason for focusing player population into a specific area is the spread between air and ground troops while usually you have most people on the ground.
For the event we have the most hope for Hossin's lattice and the tree barrier between ground and air troops making ground pounding harder. Using air to attack ground targets should still be easy enough, it just requires a little more effort and should reduce spam for infantry troops taking bases. That last remark is a major part of the event that we felt like last time didn't get enough attention.
Esamir has the lattice with the most freedom to move around, but still only allows a relatively small area for this. With Eisa tech plant in the middle and being an odd ball compared to the other continents, we decided to give 0 points for capping the base. With the ability to pull colossi from the base, it should still be a valuable target. Especially given its location.
Then we have the special case of Amerish, which has a big area in the middle of the map where you can't take a Bastion. For this continent we have chosen to eliminate the penalty for taking a Bastion outside the play area while still just tracking the play area facilities like other continents. This should make sure that Bastions have enough room to retreat, but they will still have a reason to be in the play area and help out ground troops.
With The Last Bastion I having been held on Indar and its lattice not being the best, we decided to keep the play area from last time. While we still feel like it should be improved, this is our least favourite choice for the event given the rules above and only serves as a backup.
The event will be using the Miller TeamSpeak server: ts3server://millerts.thevcbc.com.
