The primary objective of my research is to understand how the cell spatiotemporally organizes receptor, especially G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling processes and how this is disrupted in disease. GPCR signaling is an essential process to physiology and precise organization of the signaling networking is critical to survival. The cells design the signaling networks with spatiotemporal organization to provide specificity and fine-tuning of cell activities. However, how compartmentation of GPCR signaling processes occurs in healthy cells and the impact of disease when it is disrupted is not well understood. To achieve this goal, our lab aims to launch a research program to investigate how GPCR signaling networks are spatiotemporally regulated in health and disease utilizing high performance biosensors, molecular tools and live cell fluorescence microscopy techniques.
