The inaugural Texas Higher Education Kinesiology Summit (THEKS), presented by Sul Ross State University, aims to share best practices and innovative solutions to challenges facing higher education kinesiology programs. Tours of Alpine and the surrounding Big Bend region as well as a golf scramble at Lajitas Golf Resort or guided mountain biking/hiking through Big Bend State Park will highlight the experience. Twenty presentation spots will be available. Topics will include: career readiness, curriculum design, equipment and facilities, marketable skills, recruiting, and more. Cost of attendance for the summit will be $200/person, which will include lunch and dinner for the two days of the conference, as well as attending a Star Party at McDonald’s Observatory (w/Travel) in Ft. Davis. Optional day three activities include: a Round of Golf at Lajitas Golf Resort ($125), guided mountain biking ($50) or guided hiking through Big Bend State Park, or free bus tour of historic River Road (w/ travel).
