Parables are stories of everyday life that relate to certain spiritual truths. Parables usually make a general point in which the spiritual meaning is not always so clear. But the unique thing about the parables of Jesus Christ is that they reveal the truth to people who are spiritually sincere and open-hearted while at the same time keeping it hidden from those who resist God.
Parables about the Kingdom of Heaven are so much important in the Gospel of Matthew. The word "kingdom of heaven" appears 23 times in the Gospel of Matthew, and is not found anywhere else in the New Testament.
The kingdom of heaven is mentioned in the Gospel of Matthew. Since Matthew was writing his Gospel for the Jews, Because the Jews respected God very much and never used God's name, but used the word "Heaven or Adonai" instead. Matthew respectfully used the word heaven instead of God's name. The kingdom was also the subject of the preaching of Jesus Christ.
Only the Gospel of Matthew contains parables on the subject of the kingdom of heaven. These parables give us a special message about the kingdom of heaven. Linda Chiyoge says that these parables are often the most important part of the conversation of Jesus Christ.
Linda Chiyoge explained that in Matthew 13:31-32 The Parables of the Mustard Seed. This parable shows that the kingdom of the heavens will increase and occupy all things. The kingdom of heaven may seem small at first, but it is not. Everything will come under its influence.
Linda Chiyoge explained Mathew 13:33 The Parable of the Leaven.
Like a little yeast ferments all the flour. If the flour is compared to the heart of the believer and the leaven to the grace and kingdom of God, it will be easier for us to understand how the heart of the believer changes completely after accepting Jesus Christ. God's grace completely changes the state of the believer's heart.
Jesus Christ then spoke to his disciples at home.
Matthew 13:34-42 The Parable of the Weeds.
Jesus Christ himself explained the parable of the Weeds to his disciples when they asked for it.
Linda Chiyoge also explained Matthew 13:44 The Parables of the Hidden Treasure.
In this parable, it is said that a man found treasure in a field. Does anyone go to the field looking for treasure? no. That is, the treasure was given to that person as a gift. The person's efforts to find it regularly are not commendable. Nor is it commendable that the man again hid the treasure in the field and then bought the whole field. Why did he buy that field? Was that field more important or that treasure? Was the treasure obtained so that it could be hidden in the field again? In this parable, Jesus Christ says that the man did not understand the true significance of that treasure but instead began to consider other things important and focused his attention on those things.
Thus all these parables give us very important information about the kingdom of heaven.
