Market Day Exposes Students To Food And Teaches Responsibilities Of Entrepreneurship

On October 19th, the Bi-Annual Youth Entrepreneurs Market Day Event was held for students, staff, and faculty to partake in. The event featured entrepreneurship students in Mr. Green's class who use the skills they learn about operations, management, and finance to run an entrepreneurial endeavor themselves.

Market Day is a 'market' of authentic dishes that the class' students make to sell in the cafeteria on that day. Prices ranged from $2.00-$7.00 for a variety of dishes. The menu included the likes of tostadas, tacos, esquites, liberian rice, chicharonnes, and tamales just to name a few. The event is highly anticipated and will return next semester with a new group at the helm.

CK Fall Carnival 2017: Trunk or Treat Style

The Cross Keys High School PTA hosted its annual Fall Carnival on Friday October 27, 2017. The Fall Carnival seeks to raise funds to give away multiple senior scholarships. Last year, the event helped the PTA to increase the amount of the scholarships that were given.

Many clubs and organizations contributed to the event including the Woodward Elementary School PTA. Participating clubs contribute 20 percent of their earnings to the scholarship fund. Grade level representation at each school, including clubs, and organizations contributed 20 percent of their proceeds to the PTA fundraiser. Each participant decorated the trunk of a vehicle, played games and passed out candy. The event was well attended and is anticipated by the Cross Keys community each year.
