Hello! My name is Tina Dass and I'm a school Leader. I am originally from Malaysia and I grew up with my amazing mom (picture on right) who loves to cook. Every dish she makes, she makes with love and I know it sounds crazy, but it taste like love too. As a little girl, I loved watching her cook. I remember collecting flowers and dried grass from outside and pretending to cook just like her. Years later, a book reminded me that our purpose was already created since we were little and it brought me back to that moment of my childhood of always pretending to cook and sell food.
Life kept going and then I moved to NY. I saw that NY was truly a melting pot of food but truly missing an authentic experience of Malaysian food and flavors. In Malaysia, our food is made with love no matter where you go and I wanted to share a piece of home with my BK community. So, I created Kedai Nasi to share my Malaysian love. Our Nasi Lemak is the real deal. It's wrapped up in a banana leaf with anchovies, roasted peanuts, cucumber, a boiled egg and this sweet/spicy chilli sambal. It truly is a party in your mouth. We also offer Malaysian inspired cocktails. I will be introducing more Malaysian food options in the future!
In the meantime, keep a look out for our pop up events on our Instagram page. The connections I have already formed through food is so surreal already. Thank you for your love and support! #eatlocal #supportwomen #supportlocalbusinesses
