Also great news to hear that the money raised this year will be split between Johnstown FC and Johnstown Tidy Towns.

Charity Donation

As part of our Photo Competition we raised €160 in vouchers for Meath Food Bank.

We're delighted to see that the O'Briens Fat Boys and Ladybirds went even further to donate €1000 !!!

North Navan Unites

Just like the Navan South - Communities Unite Facebook Group brought the local community together we've discovered that North Navan Community Page is starting to grow in numbers too.

New Estate gets Named

'Kilcarn Woods' will host Fifty 3/4 bed homes across the road to the Cois Glaisin Housing Development.

We'll have a visual update next month.

Crossing Hazzard

Crossing Metges Road near the bus stops close to the IDA and the Johnstown People's Park is a hazardous risk.

Without adequate street lighting or warning signage for motorists the current road markings are not sufficient and is an accident waiting to happen.

Going, Going....Gone

It is a shame that the avenue of trees along Metges Road has finally gone all along the East Side.

Growth of suburbia has finally removed the country feel to the road with the final short stretch of trees alongside the Boyne Estate being replaced by the missing link in the cycle & footpath.

Very Tidy Navan!

Navan was recently listed as 5th in the 2018 Anti Litter League table and those involved in helping Johnstown Tidy Towns need to be congratulated too for their role.

We need you to Help Mondays and Wednesdays during term time, meeting at the Johnstown Shopping Centre at 10am .

Tree Trim

Johnstown Tidy Towns took the opportunity to remove some of the low level branches posing a hazard to pedestrians on footpaths. There's still more to be done within a very small window of opportunity.

Over 50 trees were 'gently' trimmed but it really does make a difference.

Playground ?

We're excited and very much looking forward to seeing what will be proposed for a children's playground on the green space outside the Johnstown School Campus.

Mixed online reactions to the suggestion back in December and there's always huge issues proposing something like this after the homes have been purchased.

Back to School.

The morning school traffic jam is a familiar sight and it certainly looks like it's here to stay.

Armed with 'common sense' and traffic cones several helpers are keeping the peak time traffic flowing better within the Johnstown School Campus.

The lack of funding to upgrade the back road has prevented the School Campus's back gate from being opened. Pressure is still being placed on the Council to make this happen.

Petition

Residents first created a Facebook Page and now there is a petition with around 1,500 signatures to "Save Old Athlumney Castle Wall and 22 of Navan’s Oldest Trees".

Maps Updated

The Google Camera Street Car made another trip through Johnstown in early June 2018 and the images are filtering into Google Maps now.

They captured the St Martha's Bridge traffic jam whilst the Navan New Bridge was being constructed but before the hanging baskets went up or the summer drought took hold.

The current Google Street views are now quite disjointed throughout Johnstown where some areas chop and change between different months and even different years.

New Energy

Johnstown Kenpo Karate Club formed at St Stephen's School this month meeting 12:30 on Saturdays.

Winter Sports

It's wet, windy and cold so the perfect weather for Rugby. With over 600 playing members and a First Team progressing up the league check out their game schedule and facilities.

With the Guinness Six Nations competition commencing in February and Ireland defending the Grand Slam of 2018 it'll be a popular venue.

Local Support

In late December Taylors of Johnstown donated funds to support Johnstown ABC Boxing Club.

After a total refit in mid December the Navan Cinema reopened under new management. High on our list of things to do over Christmas we thoroughly enjoyed the visit - comfy clean seats, good sound and fully working AC.

Even though you can book and pay online if you want to buy those essential sweets and treats you still have to join the one queue so get there in good time.

New Laws bring New Penalties.
