A Public Consultation was held on Thursday Jan 11th at the Ardboyne Hotel to introduce a proposal for a new road to link North and West Navan past Blackwater Park.
Although the new proposed new road is on the other side of Navan it will undoubtedly have an impact on our local congestion.
Traffic travelling East and West wishing to avoid Navan could have an alternative route to the Kentstown Road.
Also the through traffic exiting the M3 at Navan South and using the Dublin Road could be reduced by vehicles exiting the M3 at the Navan North Junction.
The proposed link would dramatically improve traffic flow by connecting the R147 Kells Road and M3 access to the R162 Slane Road via the road past the Aura Swimming Pool.
Traffic flow up Flower Hill and at the Round O Pub roundabout should also be improved as a result of diverted traffic.
There are three options for crossing points over the Blackwater but each has several planning, environmental and engineering challenges to overcome.

This link road could ultimately provide one section of a potential future Ring Road around Navan which we described the need for in our May Article.
This illustration is a future 'guess' for a Navan Ring Road and is NOT necessarily being planned.
Has our roundabout been sponsored? With our current traffic flow adverts will be noticed.
