Humor, reverence, and lessons are everywhere in our natural world. My work combines playtime outside with playtime with paint. My hope is that connections are made that weren't there before and those connections bring smiles and spawn curiosity.

The Greeting Cards (5.5 x 4) are glossy finished with the image on the front, blank inside, and with an informative and whimsy description on the back of the card.

The Giclee Prints are 5.5 x 5.5 with an 8 x 8 mat or 8 x 10 with a 11x14 mat tucked in a protective clear cellophane bag.

Giggle Glasses are hand painted wine glasses. Each glass depicts a different imaginary zainy bird. Since no two giggle birds are alike you will always know which glass is yours!

The Magnets are 2” x 2” ea.

Alice - Albatross

Alice is a Northern Pacific Albatross. She is a sea loving gal with a vast wingspan. She can live up to 60 years. Many Albatross species are in trouble and need our help.

Alysse - Least Tern

Alysse and her chick are members of the Least Tern family, one of the smallest of the American Terns. You may see her hovering before she dives for her meal of small fish and invertebrates. Least Terns are considered endangered due to human impact on nesting areas.

Bert - Hoatzin

Hold your nose! Bert is a Hoatzin from South America. Because of his unique ability to slowly digest his beloved green leaves he sometimes smells like a cow.

Bob - Loggerhead Shrike

Bob is a Loggerhead Shrike, also known as the “Butcher Bird”. He is a fierce songbird that perch hunts. Bob enjoys his meal shish-kabob style impaling his prey on thorns, twigs, or fence barbs. Bon Appetit!

Chester - Blue Jay

Chester is a Blue Jay. Like his cousin the crow, Chester and his friends can mimic the calls of hawks. Keep an eye on Chester! For some unknown reason Blue Jays will rub ants on their wings.

Clyde - Brown Pelican

Clyde is a Brown Pelican. He is an ace aviator, often seen soaring in formation with his friends. Clyde is a keen-eyed predator who can spot his prey while flying 60 feet above the ocean's surface.

Diana - Osprey

Diana is a special hawk called an Osprey. She is very protective of her young. Diana’s nostrils can close while diving and she has an outer toe that helps to grasp fish. The Osprey species is at least 11 million years old!

Doreen - DoDo

Doreen, the lost DoDo Bird, has left her mark on the world. She’s starred in “Alice in Wonderland”, several movies, and serves as “spokesbird” for many environmental causes. Sadly, she and her friends haven’t been seen since 1662 and were declared extinct in 1681.

Need a good mouser? Call Eugene, a Short-Eared Owl. Eugene nests on the ground and can often be seen hunting in the early evening. Eugene and his friends have disappeared from many southern areas due to habitat loss.

Ginger - Sandhill Crane

Dust off your dancing shoes because Ginger is ready boogie! Ginger is a Sandhill Crane born to be on the go. Baby Sandhill Cranes leave the nest for good only a few hours after hatching. Ginger and her friends migrate thousands of miles and at great heights.

Greg is a handsome Chinstrap Penguin. Greg is an excellent Dad. He enjoys tobogganing on icebergs and makes his nest with stones.

Iris - American Ibis

Iris is an American White Ibis. Iris and her friends help increase fish populations by feeding on critters that eat fish eggs. Her injured wing was treated by the good folks at The Center for the Birds of Prey.

Joe, a handsome young American Turkey just arrived in time for his Presidential pardon. He is SO patriotic that his head coloring changes from red, white, or blue depending upon his mood.

Marco is a Peregrine Falcon, the ultimate bird of prey. Marco is a magnificent and fast flying hunter who lives all over the world except Antarctica. Throughout history humans have trained birds like Marco to help them hunt.

Mary - Merlin

Mary, a Merlin, is a compact and fast-flying small falcon. She is the queen of the hunt, attacking at high speed, horizontally or even from below, and chasing the prey upwards until they tire. Medieval European noble women used Merlin's for sport.

The lovely Ms. Robin is a “true blue” American Robin with a beautiful voice. She has quite a sweet tooth and enjoys fruits, berries, and sweetcakes.

Walter is a Green Heron who visits the neighborhood pond. He is a top-notch fisherman and often outwits his larger cousin Herons. When Walter catches something too big to eat he gently put it back into the pond unharmed.

Davy - Hartlaub's Turaco

Davy is a Hartlaub’s Turaco from the mid eastern areas of Africa. He has mobile outer toes that rotate forward and backward. Davy enjoys dining on fruits, berries and plants. Turaco’s red and green pigment are unique in their copper content.

Oli - White-Cheeked Turaco

Oli is a White-Cheeked Turaco hailing from the upper eastern areas of Africa. Oli and his cousins are the only birds to possess true red and green color. The turaco's red and green pigments both contain copper. If you stirred a glass of water with a red turaco feather, the water would turn pink!

Henrietta is a Shoebill Stork considered one of the most terrifying birds in the world. She is a Shoebill Stork found in Sudan, Rwanda, Uganda, and Zambia. She can grow to be 5 feet tall with a wingspan of 8 feet. She's truly prehistoric known to attack and eat crocodiles. Very stealthy, usually quiet, and extremely patient but when she does chose to vocalize she sounds like a machine gun.

Wendy is a Snowy Egret, a member of the heron family. You can identify her easily by looking for her black legs and brilliant yellow feet. While feeding she uses one foot to stir up her prey and then dines. Both Mom and Dad Snowy Egrets help to incubate and care for their young.

Dan is a beautiful pheasant we call a Himalayan Monal. He is the national bird of Nepal and lives in the Himalayan forests. He carries his own large food pantry with him in his crop. Unfortunately he is valuable among poachers.

Ralph is a Northern Cardinal. It's name dates back to the founding colonists noting the similarity of the color worn by Catholic Cardinals. Occasionally referred to as the Virgina Nightingale, Ralph is a loyal mate staying with the same female year around. Ralph was inspired by my Uncle who took great joy in feeding these and other birds.

Guthrie - Wood Thrush

Guthrie is a Wood Thrush who sings beautifully. The Wood Thrush is the official bird of Washington D. C. Although both males and females sing, you will most likely hear the males. Guthrie's songs are complex with about 50 songs in it's repertoire. They can even make more than one sound at a time and will have "sing off's" with other males.

Thomas, a handsome Prothonotary Warbler and songbird likes to nest in tree cavities. Rare among songbirds, Prothonotary Warblers are known to "egg dump" in other Prothonotaries' nests.

Rob is a Veery (important) bird. Research from Delaware State University shows this songbird's behavior can predict the intensity of upcoming hurricane seasons with remarkable accuracy. Like our local meteorologist, Rob is worth listening to! Veerys migrate great distances each year traveling in the dark of night calling to each other to stay together.

Darius is a Carolina Wren. He is South Carolina's state bird. Unlike other wren's it is only the male Carolina Wrens that sings the loud and complex songs. Waking up to any Darius song warms the heart.

Felix is a ruddy dich who dives for his dinner. He lives in North America and has a stiff tail. Felix likes to travel only with his flock. He must get a running start across the water to fly.

Chet - Mandarin DUCK

Chet is a mandarin duck who is native to China, Japan, Korea, and parts of Russia. Chet is an agile flyer who nests inside the holes of trees. Female mandarin ducks don’t quack but will click if they see danger.

Ava - Nene GOOSE

Ava is a nene (Hawaiian) goose and is considered to be the world’s rarest goose. She is the official state bird of Hawaii. She’s not much of a flyer bus has feet with long toes for climbing on rocky areas. She is endangered.
