The Hub will include solutions to many areas that were identified as problems in the previous sections of the this site.
What does "The Hub" offer?
- Design -
- Allows teachers to design the appearance of the LMS to suit their student population and to change the appearance of each page as often as they choose
- Allows students to customize their own pages, graphics, etc., giving them control over their own virtual learning space
- Learning Pathways & Content -
- Students identify learning pathways that are meaningful to them and are given many opportunities to demonstrate the big ideas and core competencies through multiple "choose your own adventure" pathways built into the LMS
- Pathways are built by the teacher, using simply 'one click technologies' from any mobile device and can be co-constructed with students
- Content is presented in multiple formats and there is room for co-construction of content with students
- Video is incorporated into content in the many formats; Youtube videos, instructor led overviews using a variety of formats (Videoscribe, Powtoon, etc) and lectures are delivered in micro-learning segments video videocast and podcast.
- Content creating for teachers is simple as the LMS allows you to curate your own learning resources and easily transfer between different file formats.
- Assessment -
- Real time assessment practices using integrated mobile technology and near field communication tags
- Students are able to identify readiness to an instructor
- Intelligent agents pick up on students readiness or possible areas of concern and notify instructor via mobile technology
- Students choose how they would like to be assessed for each competency and are free to change as the course progresses
- Social Interaction, Collaboration and Engagement -
- Multiple social media platforms are incorporated seamlessly into "The Hub" and teachers and students use these platforms to communicate frequently
- Students are encouraged to create and post content for sharing (both related to the course and special interests)
- Discussion is through multiple channels (including informal built in chat) and is assessed on the basis of participation
