Equine Assisted Psychotherapy is an experiential and solution focused form of therapy conducted outdoors in an open field or paddock setting with horses. Clients interact with the horses on the ground during therapy sessions. Using horses' innate ability to pick up on and mirror emotions, immediate feedback, and nonjudgmental state of being, the clients work through the problems in their lives in a safe and judgement-free environment. Metaphor and the horse as a blank canvas are two of the main ingredients to this type of therapy.
