The Honest Company is an organization devoted to creating sustainable products that not only last a lifetime, but are made from raw materials that do not harm our environment, contribute to pollution, or put the earth's wildlife in danger. Our devotion is so strong that we donate twenty-five percent of all earnings to the WWF Endangered Species Conservation fund because we are honest and we care.
Our Story
During my freshman year of college, I had seen social media influencers with very large platforms promoting their favorite products via their Amazon storefronts. Now, if you don't know what an Amazon storefront is, it is essentially a page on Amazon where someone can upload clothes, makeup, shoes, bags, and all other sorts of products into folders with the direct link of the product to add to your cart and purchase the goods immediately, which makes it easy for one to shop for their favorite influencers' products. I had thought this was a genius idea, and I had found myself purchasing items from these storefronts daily and the product would be at my door within a day or two with Amazon's expedited shipping.
It was not until my Tuesday morning lecture hall class where we discussed our carbon footprint and our contribution to fast fashion and actually calculated our contribution, that I realized there was a major issue with what I and millions of other people were contributing to. I felt extremely guilty about the fact that I was contributing daily to mass amounts of landfill, pollution, deforestation, and the disruption of wildlife habitats. This is where I began to think, what if I could create a storefront brand that would be sold from Amazon, that would generate all sorts of products that did not harm the environment, were made out of sustainable products, and were packaged to your front door in materials that are biodegradable. From here I developed The Honest Co.
