Community Service: Campus Clean-up
Members spent their time after school several days this week to clean up the school's campus and make our favorite community center even nicer.
GUEST SPEAKER: Ad Fontes Media Bias's Dan Madsen
Our members were able to have a presentation and Q&A with one of Ad Fonte's analysts that cover media bias and factual reporting:
We had the chance to talk to Dan Madsen, an analyst for Ad Fontes. He gave a brief presentation about what Ad Fontes does & the media bias chart. We were able to ask some questions such as how the rating panels work, how content is selected, and so on. It was interesting and Dan left us with some advice with dealing with media, disinformation, misinformation, and those that struggle against facts/truth. His last piece of advice was to "read a book". Although sounding easy, it can be hard for students to dedicate their time to some real worthwhile readings, it will allow you to really foster positive habits and master the content you're interested in.
GUEST SPEAKER: History In The Making's Kyle Ward
Members were able to listen to a brief presentation and have a Q&A with Professor & author Kyle Ward:
He talked about how he got into historiography, some of the most interesting findings he had encountered, and answered plenty of questions from us!
GUEST SPEAKER: Zinn Education Project's Debrah Menkart
Members were able to listen to a brief presentation and have a Q&A with the Co-Director of Zinn Education Project that focuses on a "People's History" from the bottom up rather than top down.
GUEST SPEAKER: Ground News's Courtney Hurley
Members were able to listen to a presentation about their product & features, and have a Q&A with Ground New's Courtney Hurley.
DEBATE NIGHT #1: Pro-Life vs Pro-Choice
Our members were divided up into Pro-Life, Pro-Choice, and a Jury (Regardless of their opinions) to best argue, in good-faith, the most compelling arguments and counter arguments on each side of the issue.
DEBATE NIGHT #2: Social Media: Good or Bad?
Members Kate Amato, Owen Amato, and Michael Artman take on Mr. Lesher to discuss the best and worst parts of Social Media and its impacts on us.

The History Club Board: Highlights
Members were able to obtain a bulletin board outside of the classroom for club purposes. Members did have many different ideas about what to do with it, but decided to just share our club highlights due to limited time, and in hopes that others may be motivated to get involved and join.
The History Club Facebook Page: The History Major
Officers maintain the club's facebook page to post club updates, activities, and member work. In addition, we will all be sharing history and social studies resources that we think are interesting and...well...worth sharing.
