Next Stop: Cubao - A Simple Guide For Adamsonians
"May mga lugar na pangmatagalan. May mga lugar na dinadaanan lang. Parang… Cubao?” Wait, that's not right.
In the famous words of Kathryn Bernardo in her hit movie “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” some places are meant to be just stopovers. Places that you simply pass by on your way to your actual destination. But what lies in the places often overlooked? What can you actually find in Cubao?
All Roads Lead to Cubao
People have been making memes on the internet about how all roads seemingly find their way to Cubao, which is not far from the truth. Wherever you are, whether you're in the northern part of Luzon or on a whole other island, it's almost a guarantee that you will see a bus with a huge glowing Cubao sign attached to it.
Cubao is located in Quezon City and is considered the heart of its commercial area. Here, you will find all sorts of establishments you need. Need to go somewhere? There are terminals waiting for you. Want to have fun? Cubao offers you a wide array of malls and entertainment.
From San Marcelino to Cubao
Going to Cubao from Adamson University would only cost you less than 50 pesos and a few minutes. You can choose to either take the train for efficiency or ride the bus for a scenic route. Or you can always book a car if you have the money to spare to ensure that you won't get lost in the city.
If you choose the train, it doesn't matter whether you go north or south because there's a way for both. If you choose to go North, ride the LRT 1 to EDSA station. Then use the footbridge to transfer to MRT 3 - Taft Station. After that, wait until you arrive at Cubao.
If you choose South, take the LRT 1 once again to Doroteo Jose, then switch to LRT 2. Then hop off when you arrive at Araneta Center.
If you prefer the bus, just wait for one that has a sign saying Cubao and enjoy the traffic of Metro Manila (that's part of the experience).
Where the Excitement Begins
For most people, it's easy to overlook Cubao when you're heading somewhere. After all, it's simply a blur when you're looking out your window. But Cubao is a place of both old and new. A proof of how much has changed over the years. A place where you might find exactly what you're looking for.
First and foremost, you will find a lot of malls in Cubao, a perfect place to spend your afternoon when you want to escape the scorching heat of summer.
The first mall on the list is the Gateway Mall, which is directly connected to the train station. Here, you will find a variety of stores, so go and enjoy window shopping.
There's also Ali Mall in your options, which is considered to be one of the oldest malls in the Philippines, built in 1976.
Or, if you want something more budget-friendly, you can pick Farmers Plaza.
If you're here to watch something, let's say a sports event or a concert, then go to the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
For aesthetic, indie, and artsy vibes, Cubao Expo is the one for you. It's a place full of cozy cafes, antique shops, and cute souvenirs you can take home and put on your desk.
But if none of these strikes your interest, you can always go for a walk along the streets of Cubao and find for yourself the charm of the city.
Ready to Go?
If ever you're lost in the city or have time to spare during your vacant hours, don't hesitate to go to Cubao. See for yourself the beauty most people miss during their journey and bask in the warmth of a city full of people—wandering in this constantly changing world. And who knows, maybe in this stopover, you'll see something worth staying for.
