Founded in November 2022, our big band, primarily composed of Lamar University alumni, had the honor of debuting at the Jefferson Theatre in March 2023 with “A Night of Nestico”. The experience was transformative, and it solidified our commitment to bringing jazz music to the community for educational purposes. We are enthusiastic about the prospect of future collaborations with the Jefferson Theatre and other venues that share our passion for cultural enrichment and artistic expression.
The Golden Triangle Big Band is dedicated to preserving the rich tradition of big band jazz and expanding access to high-quality music education in Southeast Texas. Through engaging performances, educational outreach, and community partnerships, we celebrate the cultural legacy of jazz while cultivating the next generation of musicians and music lovers.
We are rooted in preserving the rich legacy of big band jazz while inspiring future generations through transformative music education. We strive to keep this uniquely American art form vibrant and accessible by pairing dynamic performance with purposeful outreach across Southeast Texas.
We bring to life the swing, soul, and sophistication of big band music through concerts that blend timeless classics with bold new arrangements. Our themed programs, ranging from tributes to jazz legends to cinematic showcases, engage audiences of all ages and reflect the diverse rhythms of American culture.
Every performance is also a platform for learning, mentorship, and inspiration--a chance to ignite curiosity in young artists and build lasting appreciation in our community. Through these efforts, GTBB transforms performance into a pipeline of education, ensuring jazz continues to thrive both on stage and in classrooms.
Our vision is a Southeast Texas where jazz is celebrated not only as cultural heritage, but as a vital tool for creative growth, academic enrichment, and community connection.
