What is the purpose of this group?
The Gathering of Black Women is an intentional safe space for women of color to engage in fun and meaningful experiences, emphasizing personal and professional growth, communal unity, and impactful collaboration.
What can I expect?
At a Gathering, women of varied ages, backgrounds, orientations, and aspirations come together to converse over refreshments or an activity. Each Gathering is unique, yet inclusion and authenticity remain consistent in every event.
May I come alone?
Of course! We are excited to welcome our peers who wish to attend sans a plus one! Most attendees do. Have anxiety about meeting new people? No problem – we all do. Don’t let that stop you from joining us. We understand the courage it takes to venture out alone. Let us help you to embrace it!
How do I find you once I arrive at an event?
For events with seated reservations, please check in at the host station upon arrival to the venue and ask for The Gathering of Black Women. For other events, please review the instructions in the confirmation and reminder emails.
What does a paid registration guarantee?
A standard paid event registration guarantees you a seat and access to any refreshments that may be purchased for the table. Other events may require an upfront fee for venue or activity admission.
Do I get a refund if I cancel my registration?
If plans change, please cancel your registration. Refunds for standard paid events are allowed up to five days before the event. Please note that Eventbrite's fees are nonrefundable. Terms for refunds on special events vary and are as noted in the event description or order confirmation email.
May I attend if I did not register?
Please do not attend an event without registering before the reservation period ends. Although many Gatherings are held in public venues, advanced arrangements are made to accommodate the expected number of attendees. If an event is sold out, we welcome your registration for the next available.
Are families allowed to attend?
All partners, dependents, family members, friends, and colleagues over 18 identifying as female are welcome to attend. Events open to youth will be noted as “Family-Friendly,” and events open to male-identifying partners and friends will be marked as “Male-Friendly.”
Are women who are not Black welcome to attend?
Absolutely. Women of all races and ethnicities are welcome with an understanding that the group's focus is driven by the interests, challenges, and celebrations of Black women specifically.
If I have more questions, whom do I contact?
Please contact Kimberly at thegobw@gmail.com for more information.
