Based on the plays of Moliere
A classical comedy can also be madcap! The 17th century comic French genius, Moliere, wrote some of the funniest plays ever written. These influenced such comedy acts as The Marx Brothers, Laurel and Hardy and The Three Stooges. The Go-Betweens is a mash-up of such Moliere favorites as The Doctor in Spite of Himself, The Blunderer and The Miser. The comic servants were some of the funniest characters of classic comedy. In The Go-Betweens, they serve as the zany instruments of two pairs of young lovers. Throw in a wood cutter and his wife and you have a non-stop comic romp.
