I have been living in South Korea off and on for more than five years, and I am currently teaching at a private academy (hagwon). I also have experience teaching ESL and linguistics to a variety of backgrounds at the university level. I have studied several languages, including Spanish and Korean, and am most interested in teaching and learning vocabulary.
I have an MA in linguistics from the University of Iowa.
I am the lead developer of the GKT program at the Gyeonggi KOTESOL chapter.
I am an ESL teacher who has lived in Korea for 5 years. I taught for three years at an English academy in Gyeonggi-do, followed by one year in the EPIK (English Program in Korea) program in Chungcheongbuk-do. I left the city for a quieter life in the countryside of Jeollanam-do, where I currently teach. I enjoy sharing my teaching experiences with other teachers. In 2024, I was selected as a Jeollanam-do mentor for the NEPIK (Networking English Program in Korea) workshop in Seoul, to share my insights and experiences on classroom management with incoming EPIK teachers.
I grew up in Mokdong, one of Seoul’s most academically driven neighborhoods. I later moved to Spain, where I attended the International College of Spain for high school. Currently, I’m studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and am working as an English teacher at a language café.
I enjoy teaching English and sharing what I have learnt as an English Learner in different cultures.
I have been teaching in Korea since 2001 and I have worked across all the English educational sectors; from Kindergarten to Business English. I gained valuable insights into the English education industry when I ran a hagwon from 2011 to 2021 with a Korean partner. I am currently a free lancer and specialize in Business English while working at a hagwon where I have the freedom to experiment by developing my own programs. I would like to share what I have learnt and hope that this may help teachers better adapt to the English Education Industry in Korea.
