Uyghur muslims have been migration through China since the 8th century, until they settled in Xinjiang, China, with a population of over 10 million people. After the arrival of the Han in the 1950s, the Uyghur population has become the minority in this region.
The arival of the Han also caused ethnic tensions. In July 2009, a protest gone wrong, harmed (mostly the Han, according to the government; Uyghurs voiced that more Uyghurs died) 200 people, many more were injured. As a response, the Uyghur population was arrested, murdered and monitored.
There have been concerns made by many human rights watch groups, regarding forced labor requiring Uyghurs and other minorities to harvest cotton in Xinjiang.

It is important to note that this genocide is the fault of the Chinese government. We should all be held responsible for ignoring it for so long, but targeting Chinese people is an unnecessary, wrong, and useless way of "solving" this problem. Don't let the treatment of Uyghurs be your justification to harm others.
