The story of The Game Day Foundation began long before 2012
The founder of The Game Day Foundation, Mike Finlen of Mobile, AL, was inspired by his sister, Ann Finlen, who was born with Downs Syndrome, but thanks to her family she had a passion for college football (especially the Auburn Tigers) and got to enjoy multiple game day experiences. Ann passed away in 2023, but her influence lives on through The Game Day Foundation. Mike was inspired to bring that game day excitement to others that had special needs.
Since then, The Game Day Foundation has sponsored dozens of families each year and has set a goal of helping more people every football season. Each year we grow and expand to help special fans at even more college football stadiums.
This is an all-volunteer effort that depends solely on donations of both tickets and money to make Game Day experiences totally free for the recipients. Although we do have some assistance from some university athletic programs, this is a grass-roots fan-driven project that has grown organically and becomes bigger every year. It is a great way for individuals and businesses to show their support for their favorite teams by doing good.
As a 501c3 donations to Game Day Foundation, LLC are tax deductible.
