We are now offering programming at 113 Church Street!
Our offerings are based in an ethos of radical respect, open communication, and generosity.
The Furnace offers recurring programs led by our members, and also hosts special offerings from other theatermakers in the community. Located at our studio in downtown Burlington, on the 3rd floor at 113 Church Street (above Leunig's Bistro), unless otherwise noted. All programs are offered by donation. No one turned away for lack of funds!

A special benefit performance of Furnace member Gina Stevensen's one-person performance about transformation, queerness, and love.
This performance took place on May 27th, 2026 at Radio Bean in Burlington. It was presented by Historically Close Friends (a program of queer theater company Between The Willows) to benefit the rent fund for our studio space in downtown Burlington. The evening also included an anti-capitalist auction.

There was a fire, long ago, though no one in this small town talks about it. But when a stranger arrives looking for answers about their father, the town must confront a haunted past — and decide what that means for the future. All the while, the ensemble of actors telling the story tries to figure out: how should it all end?
Full of whimsy and physical storytelling, An Otherwise Lovely Residential Area is a devised play about love, ghosts, and the revolutionary power of imagination.
Watch a recording of the play here and flip through the program here.
Performances were at the Off Center for the Performing Arts on June 28th and 29th, 2025.
