#45. The Downfall of Pin (BFDI 1-6)
One of the greatest storylines from the first season, we observe the amazing, and shakesperian downfall of Pin, the leader of the Squishy Cherries. It is truly such a storyline that emerged in the most interesting way possible. What makes it so engaging is how much Pin was completley oblivious to the fact she was edging closer and closer to her downfall.
"What? That's crazy!"
The story begins after Pin won the first challenge, already making a huge step forward in her game. And also proving that she is a fierce competitor. Pin is now at the height of her power, with complete control of everything in her surroundings. And this is where Pin makes her first mistake, she chooses Pencil to join her team. This was intended to break up what she thought was an alliance between the two, but instead it would backfire. After that, the power began to shift to the alliance, as one by one the rest of the members of Pencil's alliance join the team. Pin would never get her power back as the team now belongs to the alliance. Notice that after Pencil is elected, Bubble, Match, Pen, and Firey were all chosen due to the alliance. Pin has now lost all her power as even Match challenges her declaring Pin to no longer be the leader of the group. It gets worse for her as another strong threesome joins the team. Eraser, Pen, and Blocky join and continue to weaken Pin's grip on her team.
"What? That's crazy! I have complete control of my team"
Pin still remains oblivious to the fact she has just recruited a team dedicated to overthrow her. In the first challenge she is still able to grasp on to some power as during the next challenge she directs her team, however, under terrible leadership, and a bad boat design they almost lose, luckily they did not screw up as much and managed to get a win. This is where Pin reclaims some of her power. She wins the first Win Token, giving her security at her next Cake at Stake.
Pin gets her first taste of safety.
During the next challenge, Pin is forced to send half her players off the challenge in order to remain safe, but this would lead Pin's team losing.
This is where Pin begins her downward spiral, Although she has a Win Token, she incorrectly evaluates her game and decides she is in no danger of going home since she is just so likable. This is false, however, but it still shows how she has become drunk on her supposed power. As the Announcer asks Pin if she would use her Win Token, she replied.
"Uh no, I mean, there's nothing mean I can think of that would make people want to vote me"
This statement is downright untrue, as Pin has been one of the cruelest contestants on the show. Even when she gets her second win token, Pin never once considers she could be in danger and should use it. Even as her team dwindles down. to smaller and smaller sizes, she never once belives she is in danger. Pin keeps doing mean things, clueless to the fact that she is slowly but surely losing fabour with the audience.

Yet somehow Pin never understands that people hate her now. And she still refuses to play her Win Tokens. Soon after, everyone begins to taunt Pin for her inaction. The Announcer begins to dismiss her anytime Pin goes on one of her egotistical rants. Announcer even begins to taunt her. Pin's ego continues to grow despite her chances of winning continuing to shrink. Pin was edging closer and closer, from being in the final 10 to the final 4, to the final 2. Pin kept approaching her elimination, she was going to go home next, yet she still refuses to do anything about it.
Even though Pin is in the bottom two, and now is the next in line, she still doesn't realise she is in danger. Still believing that she is completley safe.
"I can't think of anything mean I did to make people want to vote me... People are ignorant!"
"Some are"
Despite all the taunting and repeated warnings, Pin still refuses to use any of her resources since she is just so confident. Even after she lost complete control of her team and is edging closer to the end, her ego tells her otherwise.
Eventually this story comes to an end as Pin finally gets enough votes to be eliminated. Of course, she does not go down without a fight.
"I use my win token"
"Too late"
"But I'm the team leader! You can't do that!"
"You should have used your win tokens"
And there you have it, the story of how Pin royally screwed herself over by not choosing to play her Win Tokens. Pin somehow managed to go from the singemost powerful contestant into the game to being blindsided DESPITE having multiple layers of protection. Being taken out in one fell swoop. This moment was the definition of satisfying, finally seeing Pin get what was coming to her all these months. And for her to not even see it coming was probably the icing on the cake.
