We got the 4m out on the beach today for a proper flight test. Wind was too light to get on the water, but more than enough to evaluate handling, stability, and behavior — and it did not disappoint.
Quick Takeaways
Extremely stable overhead for its size
Smooth, controlled response in gusts (tips shed load effectively)
Excellent handle ergonomics and feedback
Packs down faster and easier than most in the category
Build quality and design details are immediately apparent
First Flight
Getting the 4m in the air was straightforward. It launches easily and settles into a stable, predictable position overhead with minimal input. For a parawing of this size, the stability stands out immediately — it stays planted and composed even as conditions shift.
The Handle
The handle feels excellent in hand. The ergonomics translate directly into real use — comfortable, intentional, and highly communicative. You feel what the wing is doing without any vagueness or delay.
Gust Response
One detail worth highlighting: in small gusts, the wingtips visibly release excess power rather than transferring it directly into the bar. This is a deliberate and effective design choice. Instead of the rider absorbing every pressure spike, the wing sheds it passively, resulting in a noticeably smoother experience in variable conditions.
Pack Down
This is where the Roger Parawing really surprised us. Packing it away is fast and effortless — no wrestling the canopy, no fighting to compress it. It bunches down cleanly and quickly, which matters more than most people realize when you are resetting between sessions or packing up in a hurry.
Where We Are
We have not had this on the water yet, so this is strictly a land-based evaluation. That said, everything we saw reinforces that this is a thoughtfully engineered product with a strong focus on real-world usability.
Full on-water review coming once conditions line up.
Here at The Foil Garage, we see a wide range of product come through the shop. Ensis sent us both a 3m and 4m Roger Parawing for review, and from the moment we opened the box, the quality was immediately apparent.
Quick Takeaways
Premium build quality throughout
Thoughtful, highly functional carry bag
Clean, intuitive line color coding
Lightweight canopy with durable feel
Hardware and fittings are top-tier
Packaging & Presentation
The carry bag immediately stands out. The material is heavy-duty and clearly built for long-term use — not a throwaway sack. It is spacious, making packing easy, and the pocket layout (two side pockets + front zip) is genuinely useful for leashes, hardware, and accessories.
Volume is generous — you could realistically fit multiple wings in one bag. For travel or multi-size sessions, that matters.
The pink and black canopy colorway looks sharp and well executed right out of the bag.
Canopy & Material
The 3m comes in at 1 lb. 5 oz., which is very competitive. The ripstop canopy has a dense, taut feel that immediately inspires confidence. This is not a fragile-feeling wing.
A key design detail: the leading edge uses a scooped geometry to manage airflow rather than open cells that can take on water. For anyone who has struggled with water-filled parawings during relaunch, this is a meaningful improvement.
Hardware & Fittings
The bar is a standout. Ergonomic, solid, and purpose-built. The center pull-through safety system is cleanly integrated, and the use of stainless Quicklinks is a quality touch — functional and easy to service.
Bridle lines are notably thin, which reduces drag and improves efficiency, especially in lighter wind.
Color Coding & Line Identification
The line system is simple and effective. Front lines are light blue, with remaining lines in white. The EVA bar also uses color differentiation (blue/gray) to clearly indicate orientation.
This makes setup and sorting faster, especially in real-world conditions when things are wet or rushed.
Included Accessories & Details
The wing ships with the bag and stickers, but the small details stand out — including the Swiss flag finishing. It reflects a level of pride in the product that carries through the entire design.
What To Be Aware Of
No on-water feedback yet — performance under load still to be evaluated
Single-skin design will always have different behavior vs inflated wings (as expected)
Real-world relaunch and drift characteristics still to be tested
Bottom Line — Out of the Box
Based on unboxing and initial handling, the Ensis Roger Parawing sits at the top end of this category in terms of build quality and design execution.
The materials inspire confidence, the hardware is premium, and the usability details show real thought behind the product.
We will reserve final judgment until both sizes are tested on the water, but early impressions are very strong.
The Foil Garage requested these wings from Ensis for independent review. As always, our impressions are entirely our own.
