March Scholarships are up for 2022!
Hello! My name is Lena Nguyen and I am 16 years old. I am currently a junior at Granada Hills Charter High School and plan on studying business in college. In my free time, I like to workout, listen to music, and cook.
As a Global Business and Finance student at my school, I have been exposed to the basics of finance in my Introduction to Business class and have learned numerous invaluable lessons about budgeting, saving, and investing. I came to a realization that not many teenagers my age have the same opportunities to acquire an education that embodies the fundamentals of finance. I strongly believe that all teenagers should be well educated in the matters of finance before maturing into adulthood in order to begin making wise financial decisions at an early age.
As a co-founder of this project, I organize meetings, make executive decisions, and assist all the other departments. Through The Financial Freedom Project, I want to further my knowledge about finance and make a positive impact in my community. I know that our generation of young adults can one day reach financial independence if they take the first step in becoming proactive about their finance now.
Hi! My name is Sara Rojas and I am a junior at Cleveland High School. I am 17 years old and enjoy playing video games, spending time with my three pets, and meditating. After high school I am planning to study communication sciences and disorders.
Although I don’t take any classes surrounding finances, I am deeply invested in this project. Many of my peers and myself don't have an opportunity to learn about finances. Learning about finances is essential for anyone, no matter what they will do in their adulthood. I believe that this is a great opportunity for any teen to educate themselves on finances. My hopes for this project is to reach many others who aren't exposed to finances. Everyone should have access to information surrounding finances, no matter the age.
As a co-founder of this project I oversee everyone's progress, assist our teams, and collaborate with my partner through every decision. My goal with the Financial Literacy Project is to provide as many resources to peers in my community to prepare themselves for college, living alone, or the journey of adulthood. Independence starts with becoming financially independent.
