Benjamin Ezraty - DR2 CNRS - Group Leader
My research focuses on oxidized proteins repair using enterobacteria (E. coli, Salmonella) as model organisms. Former PhD student at the Laboratoire de Chimie Bactérienne, I am proud to have my own team at the LCB. Beyond my research activities, I organize events that bring together the community of microbiologists like l’École de Microbiologie Moléculaire. Follow the lab on Twitter (@EzratyB)
Maxence Vincent - CR CNRS
I am a biologist by training and a microscope enthusiast. After studying DNA repair with cutting-edge imaging methods at Oxford University, I joined Benjamin’s group on Sep 2022 to visualise oxidative processes in live cells.
Maxence Dessertine - PhD Student
After becoming an engineer in biological engineering at Polytech Clermont (Clermont-Ferrand), I joined the Ezraty's team in October 2023 to carry out my 3-year PhD on Salmonella adaptation to oxidative and copper stress.
Margot Beltran - IE CDD SATT
Graduated from a Master's degree in microbiology and immunology, I left the Alpine mountains to move to the Phocaean city by the sea. I joined the Ezratyeam in May 2025 to work on oxidative stress and the antioxydant effects on E. coli. As a photography enthusiast, I am glad to work under a microscope generating beautiful images of small organisms like bacteria, whether colored or not!
Laurent Loiseau - IR1 CNRS
I have been working for 7 years on cell cycle and transformation of avian cells at the ENS Lyon and I joined the LCB on April 1st, 1997! Since this date, I have worked on various topics ranging from the type II secretion machinery to the biosynthetic pathway of iron-sulfur centers or the biosynthesis of Q8 and using E. coli as model bacterium. 2018 is the year of change as I am now working on Msr and the response to oxidative stress.
Laurent Aussel - PR2 AMU
I work on Salmonella adaptive mechanisms since 2006. After a PhD in Paris XI and a two-year post-doctoral position in the university of Oxford, I reached the LCB in 2002. I like the calanques, the pizza "moitié-moitié" and Nîmes coliseum.
Jérôme Becam - IR CDD CNRS
I have studied at Aix-Marseille University and obtained my Master degree in 2009. One year later, I moved to the Pasteur Institute in New-Caledonia to study ecoepidemiology of Leptospirosis. In 2013, I went back to Marseille and joined the military hospital Laveran. One year later, I moved to Wurzburg (Germany) and worked on N. meningitidis during 4 years. More recently, I worked in Nice in a start-up company involved in diabetes research. At the beginning of 2023, I joined the Ezratyeam to work on the process of maturation of a biosensor of chlorate in E. coli developed in collaboration with the SATT network.
Matthew Jones - PhD Student
I did my master’s in Biochemistry at Oxford, where I studied the tolerance of E. coli to ROS stress. I then joined the Ezraty team in 2024 to pursue my PhD understanding the HOCl stress response of Salmonella, as an interdisciplinary project with the Bansept group.
Nicola Pordone - Post-doc
After graduating with a master’s degree in microbiology from Marseille Luminy, I completed a PhD in Saint-Étienne on Staphylococcus aureus persistence and host-cell adaptation. I am now back in this beautiful city, not only to enjoy fishing, but especially to join the Ezraty team, where I work on Salmonnella adaptation to host-cell–induced oxidative stress during infection.
