He consumed a gem of fire, hoping to burn himself from the inside out. But instead, it was revealed that he was a Gem-Immune, able to consume gems and utilise their elemental essences. Since then, he had taken up gem collecting as a means of income, though primarily lived in the wilderness with May alongside.
