FAQ’s

Who are we?

The Elephant Ear Gallery was organized in 2010, offering art and fine craft space to approximately 20 local artists. It has been a bonus to the community and to each artist. The community gets the benefit of local art while the artists are housed in a safe, clean and environmentally protected area at an affordable price. Each artist works approximately one day per month, this gives the public a chance to see "artists at work" nearly every day. Shop local and support our community!

Do the vendors take custom orders?

Absolutely! If you would like to request a custom order, reach out to the vendor directly via their email address under the Vendors link at the top of the page or stop by the store and someone will be happy to assist you. You may also email the store at TheElephantEarGallery@gmail.com and someone will get back with you as quickly as possible. A few vendors, including Mary's Custom Quilts & Embroidery, have order forms on their page (see Vendor link above); simply complete the form and bring the email receipt with you into the shop to complete the order process.

May I purchase products online?

Some vendors are happy to ship their products. Please reach out to them via the email address listed on their individual pages under the Vendor tab at the top of the page to inquire about their unique policies. Drop into the store Monday to Saturday between 10:00 and 5:30 and we'll be happy to assist you. You may also email the store at TheElephantEarGallery@gmail.com and someone will get back with you as quickly as possible.

What type of food products do you offer?

We are the exclusive Sumter vendor for Benne Wafers, a delectable southern staple. Our vendors also offer homemade sourdough and other breads, fudge, chocolate peanut clusters, chocolate cashew toffee clusters, and seasonal desserts and treats. Click on the Gourmet Shop under the Vendor tab at the top of the page for more information. You can always stop by the store or give us a call for current availability as well.

Do you offer coupons?

Individual vendors often offer coupons or other discounts. Visit their individual pages under the Vendor tab at the top of the page for more information.

Do you offer classes?

Yes, we often offer classes throughout the year on different topics and mediums. However, as expected, COVID has limited our options over the past year. We do hope to resume in person workshops as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime, please feel free to email us at thelephanteargallery@gmail.com with any suggestions or class requests.

How do I become a vendor?

The Elephant Ear is always excited to recruit new artists to join our co-op. If you are interested in joining our creative family, fill out the New Vendor Application (link at the top of the page). Be sure to include detailed descriptions of your products as well as pictures of the finished products. Allow up to two weeks for the board to review your application and get back with you with a response. Upon approval by the board, new vendors are required to pay a $100 one time membership fee and sign a six month contract. Vendors may choose between a half booth for $65 or a full booth for $100 per month. Additionally, the gallery charges a 5% fee for every item sold. New vendors must complete a two day in-store training session; afterwards they are expected to work one day in the store approximately every four to six weeks (you may pay another vendor to work for you for a $50 fee, pending availability). Feel free to email us at TheElephantEarGallery@gmail.com with questions and someone will get back with you as quickly as possible.
