Unit 2 helped us to enumerate the national and local ICT policies affecting classroom practices. It also posed enlightenment about implementing ICT policies in all aspects of teaching and its learning process. Finally, it enhanced our skills to analyze safety issues in ICT use cases, and it pointed out the lessons that needed to be learned.
This unit introduced the Policy Guidelines on University Internet Laboratory, Relevant Provisions from the BSU Student Code (s. 2017), and Freedom of Expression Censorship. These topics highlighted the Privacy and Policies that we need to consider when handling ICT, especially in teaching. It also enlightened us about implementing ICT policies in all aspects of teaching and its learning process by introducing us to the Issues on ICT and Internet Policy and Regulations, Freedom of Expression and Censorship, Privacy and Security and Surveillance, and Data Retention. These topics gave us the idea of how to implement ICT in all of its aspects to future learners. Furthermore, it improved our skills to analyze cases related to safety issues in the use of ICT. It pointed out the lessons that needed to be learned by giving us to the topics of E-pollutants from E-waste, Safety Issues & Protocols in the Use of ICT in Education, Tips in Protecting Computer Systems and giving us Guides and implications to teaching and learning ICT.
This activity on searching for cybercrime issues is one of our favorite activities as it gave us insights into the different issues involving the use of technology. It shows the dangers of taking advantage of one's technological skills and using it to destroy others. Honestly, we did not get a perfect score, but we think of this as a guiding principle towards improving our skills. We suggest that future learners search for more relevant issues on the use of ICT.
Seeing this, we highly believe and suggest people be responsible and disciplined towards using ICT tools. As users of technological tools, it is necessary for us to be aware of the netiquettes for proper internet access.
In essence, Unit 2 built us a foundation in teaching ICT regarding its Policies and Safety Issues. It provided us with the enumeration of the national and local ICT policies, gave us ideas of implementing ICT policies in teaching and learning, and enhanced our skills to analyze cases of safety issues in the use of ICT. This Unit expanded the horizon of our knowledge regarding the ICT policies that we need to integrate into our lives, especially as future educators. The knowledge gotten in this particular Unit would forever resonate through our lives because it gave us practical knowledge to navigate through the ICT medium.
