As a future educator, PCK 126: Technology for Teaching and Learning 1 is an essential subject and a general guide to perform meaningful tasks in modifying and modernizing present educational systems and the mode of learning itself. It is a valuable part of several aspects of our daily lives, not just in education. It is taken in high regard to be part of this subject.
In this subject, I've learned the value of ICT as a platform that helps us obtain information, which restores, stores, receives or operates information in a digitalized format. This subject aims to enlighten the field of education that is broadly classified as a tool that aids in computer-based learning, analysis, and presentation that serves as a central tool useful in handling information systems. From its day-to-day activities from Unit 1 to Unit 6 enlightened and broadened my perspective on the ICT subject. It has been a smooth journey, and I have learned so much while having fun.
All these positive teaching and attributes are given by the subject PCK 126: Technology for Teaching and Learning 1 taught me to maximize the knowledge and utilities that I have acquired as a future educator. I would be happy to share the essential and fun Subject knowledge as a student and future educator with the world.
There is no doubt that technology has eased our way of living, especially in the aspects of production, communication, and education. With that, I would like to emphasize the vital role of technology in the modern-day teaching and learning process. Materials like computers, projectors, printers, and other tools have expanded the means that teachers can utilize to make the learning process more effective and interesting.
In our subject PCK 126 or Technology for Teaching and Learning 1, we were partially equipped with the knowledge that we have to possess as future educators concerning the integration of technology in the teaching and learning process. What I found very interesting during the whole semester in this subject is how it enhanced our digital literacy, which I think is one of the things that most of us have to practice. I also enjoyed our activities, especially the infographic making, because I was able to generate my graphics creatively. As a future educator, I am very excited about my career because we have the technology, teaching would be much convenient and exciting with the integration of it.
Technology has played an essential role in developing the many things that we use in our day-to-day lives. As we strive for progress, various technological tools and platforms are introduced, especially in the field of education. Now that I am in college, it marks the importance of learning these concepts to help improve our way of teaching in the future.
The subject PCK 126: Technology for Teaching and Learning 1 has taught me the things that would equip me to deliver my profession in teaching. It provided light towards the development of my technological knowledge --effectively improving my digital literacy. I have learned the importance of using and taking advantage of the different technological tools and platforms not only in the concept of education but also in my everyday living. It taught me to be a responsible user of these. Technology has always been one of the fields of my interest, and this subject was the guiding key towards the growth of my skills and knowledge.
Overall, all the activities that I took have paved the way towards enhancing my perspective and skills in accessing such tools and platforms. As one of the future teachers of this country, I should be adaptable and flexible, especially because technology keeps evolving and learning needs will change. I will use the knowledge that I have gained to improve the delivery of teaching and ensure that learning takes place in the classroom. I will carry out these skills to teach and help other teachers to learn and take advantage of technology.
Who would have imagined that this subject would be the turning point in my learning? From being self-assured to self-pity to being an innovative, adaptable, collaborative, creative, socially savvy, and critical thinker. In PCK126: Technology for Teaching and Learning, I valued the importance of having 21st-century skills. My eyes widened, I became more aware of reality.
Appreciating the richness of all the lessons this semester, from searching to application, I want to share my experience. In the Unit 4 activity (TPACK), I confidently stated that I am more knowledgeable with technology than pedagogy and content. However, as I proceeded through the activities followed after that unit, I realized that I am not proficient in technology. Yet, I am capable in content (far different from what I expected myself to be). For example, in making this e-Portfolio, because the activity necessitates a high level of technical skill, I felt terrified and insecure. Even though I am computer-educated and can edit, my self-esteem has fallen sharply. I was worried because I wasn't even talking to keep pace with my technologically advanced classmates. Meanwhile, when it comes to evaluative, word-related, or analytical activities, I am the one who insists on taking the lead, which is what I noticed right after the tasks were completed. As a result, I was encouraged to continue to broaden my technical competence. Perhaps I realize that not only I, as a student, but also my future students will benefit from this.
Truly, as modernity expanded, the minds of learners transitioned as well. Based on my experience and observations of my classmates, we have intricate ideas; we ponder all kinds of concepts that require a high level of explanations. Our reasoning and logical skills are enriched. Due to this, I appreciated the diversity of learners. We are enormously diverse in terms of abilities, background knowledge and experience, and motivation to learn. We have our expertise and incompetence, learning styles, and developmental and ability levels. However, despite all these differences, we are capable of learning -- for growth and development.
Over the past few years, technological enhancements have become a huge avenue for growth and development in the educational setting as it supports both teaching and learning. It facilitates collaboration in an active learning environment because of the vast array of teaching and learning-related software and hardware for teachers and learners. As we move forward in achieving our dreams of becoming future educators, we will make the best out of every online learning opportunity and use open educational resources and other technologies.
PCK 126: Technology for Teaching and Learning 1 is a complex but interesting subject that increases my engagement and accelerates my learning about digital tools and technological innovations necessary in my chosen profession. Engaging in the learning packets and performing the tasks individually or by group helps me build essential 21st-century skills and my technological knowledge, which are valuable to me as a student-teacher and as an individual. Still, I was always reminded of the limitations and responsible use of technology and the internet because it is only a tool and not an end.
Truly, taking time to slow down and learn these basic skills will help me work efficiently in our fast-paced society. Little by little, I will continue to educate myself about these various concepts to build different learning styles and create a more engaging environment in the classroom I dreamed of.
