Matt Steven is a musician, producer, and songwriter hailing from Northamptonshire, UK. He is known as The Easter Parade and operates from his recording studio, Indigo Scala. Although he has not released any original music for about a decade now, he is currently working on The Easter Parade’s upcoming EP, Raindrops on the Lens.
The music is notable for its personal touch, evoking a nostalgic and cinematic atmosphere with a reflective and contemplative mood. He aimed to capture a timeless sonic aesthetic for this project, often envisioning his music as if it were accompanied by the visuals of an old black-and-white film set, drawing inspiration from a collection of vintage photographs. Notable songwriters such as Ron Sexsmith, Salvador Sobral, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, and Matt Berninger are some of Steven's primary influences. Yet, The Easter Parade offers an original sound that escapes easy comparisons.
'Sing Our Kids to Sleep,' the debut single from The Easter Parade, was mostly recorded in the summer of 2024 at Indigo Scala Studio near Kettering (Matt’s Project Studio). Featuring the esteemed Betania Hernández String Quartet and mastered by the renowned Pete Maher (known for his work with Katy Perry, U2 etc) this release heralds an exciting new chapter for the project. As the first single under The Easter Parade moniker, it kicks off a busy schedule of releases planned for 2025. With its rich orchestration and heartfelt melodies, the track sets a high bar for the music to come.

Quote from Matt Steven
“After a long break, I’m excited to share something new with the Easter Parade. It’s a project that reflects both where I’ve been and where I’m headed, and I hope people find something in it that resonates with them. The intention of the project is not to make a grand statement, but to offer an honest collection of music shaped by time and experience.”
