Susan (mother to Judy and grandmother to Anne and Maggie) moved to Coronado in 1958 with her family. She attended Coronado High School, where she met John, who would later become her husband and father to her two daughters. Susan moved off of the Island to raise her family near San Diego State, and moved back to Coronado to live in her childhood home in the 1980s.
Judy moved from San Diego to Sacramento to raise her family. But Judy also became a school teacher, allowing her to bring her daughters to stay at Grandma's for the summer during their entire childhoods. Each year, Anne and Maggie would spend the summers walking to the beach to boogie board and make sand castles; riding bikes to get ice cream or buy a new book at the local book store; walking to Clayton's with nickels in their pockets to get lunch and play music on their jukeboxes (a personal favorite of Maggie's). Some days Judy would take them for a day out at The San Diego Zoo or The Wild Animal Park (now known as the Safari Park); an afternoon at the museums, theaters, and beautiful outdoor grounds at Balboa Park; or even a short drive up I-5 to Disneyland.
Having retired, Judy moved back to Coronado in 2013. Judy and Susan decided that they wanted to work on a project together--something that they could share with each other, something that they could love, and something that would bring more joy in to the world. They decided to invest in a beautiful home on the island--a well-made house that was in need of some updating. They chose a home that would have plenty of space, and they committed to making it a place where people could come together and enjoy Coronado in the same way that they had been able to for years. With the help of Anne and Maggie, they carefully curated a space that feels truly special, with classic mid-century style and modern comforts.
