“My Poem”

Born August twenty-fourth, a late summer flame. 

In Harrisburg, PA, I was born into the struggle, yet aiming for the best. 

African American, rich in pride, 

traveling with purpose because I have footsteps moving behind. 

On the court, I hustle, basketball in hand. 

Learning life’s lessons with each play I land.

Business degree I will earn with focus and fight,

Turning long days into a future so bright.

I study success, I plan, I build, with a mind full of vision.

I can’t settle for less.

I dream of a big house with a pool catching the sun,

Chickens running around with eggs ready to hatch.

From Harrisburg roots, I will not lose.

I won’t stop, till I get to the top.
