BY BILL
When I was young,
and impressionable,
my family told me,
there’s nothing you can’t be,
you are Irish, Catholic, and free,
But wait…
To be free is the dream.
We talk about it, search for it,
chase it, and try to snatch it.
But like catching the wind,
you open your hand to find
Nothing…
Is it real? Can we have it?
This is the home of the free.
But not for me,
not for we.
For us, it’s but a
dream…
Sitting here year after year,
in their warehouse they call the DOC,
chasing the dream,
dreaming the dream.
But wait, there is
Something…
Something bigger than the DOC,
that’s G-O-D,
Because of He,
I caught the wind,
it’s no longer a
Dream…
After thirty years, I’m still here,
in this warehouse they call the DOC.
But, thanks to Jesus,
I’m living the dream.
I am Christian, married, Irish, and
FREE…
