I was born in 2004. The year that Facebook was invented, before the iPhone was released and the time of the iPod. A lot has changed since then, and I've been raised as it did. That means that the way I was raised changed a lot from year to year. The changes in technology over the past couple of decades has been rapid. Especially in the way it impacted my education. We went from using the computer lab a couple times a month in Elementary School to carrying our computers around with us in High School.
The first time that I realized that I was raised differently than past generations happened while I was at Costco. My mother and I were looking at computers and she was surprised by how fast I could type. I was a little taken aback since I was much younger than her. She was born in 1972, and when she went to school they didn't really have computers. I realized then, that throughout the years schools stopped teaching their students how to write in cursive, and started teaching them how to type instead.

I got my first phone when I turned thirteen in 7th grade. It was average if not a little late for my peers. At the time I was incredibly impatient, but now, I'm very thankful that I had to wait that long. Having a phone or any technology comes with a lot of benefits, but there are a lot of downfalls as well. I had a lot more access to music, online reading, and the news, but I also got my first social media accounts. Overall I think social media does a lot of good things, but I also had to deal with my fellow students opinions outside of school as well. Fortunately I was able to find a new way to connect with my peers through social media. I've met new people online that I would never know without social media, and I've kept up with a lot of others. At times I could definitely find having a phone distracting, with a whole world in my pocket I can't help but want to check in every now and then.
Not only has technology had a great impact on my education, but it has has a immense impact on my daily life, and hobbies. As for an extracurricular, I'm part of tech crew at CNS and the Junior High School. I'm the Assistant Team Leader of Sound Crew for 4D Productions. That means that my whole job is to learn about new technology to provide sound equipment for musicals, plays, talent shows, and a lot more. We're able to edit, research, take inventory, play sound effects, and a lot more just with the computers. We also can load an app that allows us to control the entire sound board remotely on a tablet.

I've had the chance to use a lot of technology as I've grown up. I think that the main complaint that people have about technology is that it takes up too much of our time and energy. I think that the most important thing to keep in mind when using tech in our everyday lives is balance. Like most things in life, technology can become a negative force without balance.
