Coverage & Visit Policy — The Brownsville Guy
The Brownsville Guy is not a paid advertising platform and does not normally charge to attend community events, visit businesses, or share local happenings. Most visits you see online are places I chose to stop at on my own, and I do not expect or request free products or free meals during those regular, unrequested visits. I also do not solicit advertising. However, because I now receive a large number of businesses specifically asking me to come out and feature them, I’ve created a simple request system for those who want to schedule a visit.
If a business requests a visit, they should understand I am not an advertiser and I do not guarantee promotion. I provide honest, fair, and factual impressions based on my real experience. If I visit a business — for example a restaurant — and I don’t have a good experience or don’t feel I can genuinely recommend it, I will not produce coverage.
A requested visit requires a $100 visit fee paid in cash at the beginning of the visit to cover time and travel. If the visit results in a feature, the total fee is $200. If the business prepays the $200 and I determine I will not produce coverage, $100 will be refunded and $100 will be retained for the visit. For restaurant visits that are specifically requested, any food being reviewed must be provided at no charge during that visit only. This applies only to requested coverage — I do not ask for free meals during normal, unplanned visits.
This policy is not advertising — it simply provides a fair way to handle the volume of requests while allowing The Brownsville Guy to remain honest, independent, and community-focused.
Event Promotion & Sponsorship Policy — The Brownsville Guy
The Brownsville Guy is available to help promote community events such as concerts, festivals, tournaments, fundraisers, and other local gatherings. Event promotions are handled strictly as a media trade sponsorship, not as paid advertising. The goal is to create a mutually beneficial partnership that increases awareness and attendance while maintaining the independent voice of The Brownsville Guy.
For event sponsorships and promotional coverage, the following elements are required from event organizers:
A minimum of two (2) VIP passes to the event, if applicable
Logo inclusion for The Brownsville Guy in a mutually agreed-upon placement within event media (for example: event posters, flyers, digital promotions, stage projection, or event signage)
In return for this basic media trade package, The Brownsville Guy will provide:
A minimum of two (2) promotional videos prior to the event
At least four (4) promotional posts of the event flyer shared across primary Facebook channels for The Brownsville Guy and select community groups on FB when suitable.
On-site coverage of the event, including at least one video, if attendance is possible based on schedule and availability of The Brownsville Guy
All event sponsorship agreements must be put in writing and signed by both parties prior to execution to ensure clarity and professionalism.
The intention of these partnerships is simple: support strong community events while maintaining authenticity, fairness, and positive engagement across the Brownsville and Rio Grande Valley community.
No Guarantee Policy — The Brownsville Guy
The Brownsville Guy does not guarantee results, performance, or public response from any video, post, or promotional coverage. While the platform reaches a broad audience, there is no way to predict how the community will react to a particular business or event. Views, likes, shares, attendance, or customer visits cannot be promised or estimated in advance.
What I can guarantee is effort and integrity. I will provide fair, honest, and ethical coverage and will present the business or event accurately to the audience. If I commit to a promotional package or agreed coverage, the client will receive at least the minimum deliverables outlined in that agreement — and often more when time and content allow.
