Bracing
Trussed rafters shall be suitably braced to support applied loads and self-weight without due movement. Bracing should be installed in accordance with the design.
Bracing to be a minimum size of 100mm x 25mm (3mm tolerance).
Fixed twice to each truss using 65mm 10-gauge nail.
Placed at the node points of the ceiling chord.
Longitudinal bracing at ridge and rafter node points.
Bracing should be continuous and were not possible lapped jointed by a minimum of 2 trusses.
All longitudinal bracing is required to be in contact with the gable to provide restraint.
Where there is a spandrel panel at the gable, the bracing must be fixed to the panel either into a stud member or via a timber ledger.
Diagonal bracing should be provided to all truss rafter roofs.
They should extend over two trusses and be fixed twice into every truss.
Diagonal bracing should extend to the wall plate and have two fixings into the plate.
If the bracing does not connect to the wall plate, provide additional timbers to the wall plate to allow for fixing.
