Question:

Is diagonal bracing needed on a double hipped roof?

Considerations:

• Do mono-pitch trussed rafters, bearing in the web of a steel joist, need to have solid blocking like floor joists, or is the longitudinal bracing, nailed on top of the ceiling joists sufficient?

Answer:

The longitudinal bracing at the intersection of the ceiling member and the vertical end member of the truss is sufficient. Solid blocking is not required in addition.
