General
External masonry shall be designed and constructed to support loads and transfer loads to the foundations safely and without undue movement.
Digital thermometer placed in the site office with the censor outside of a north facing window.
Temperature must be 2°C and rising before brickwork can start.
Work must stop when the temperature is 2°C and falling.
Bricks and blocks must be stacked well and separated by type.
Block identified by strength.
Materials should be covered from the elements and kept off the ground.
Keep loaded bricks and blocks dry during inclement weather.
Protect completed work at the end of each working day.
Bond internal blockwork to external walls using a brick tie at 225mm centres.
Alternatively, brick starter bars or bed reinforcement such as Expamet.
