THE WALT-DISNEY COMPANY: CASE STUDY IN PRIVATE SECURITY TRENDS

The news is often focused on national security and stability in the United States and around the world. However, nations and political parties aren't all that worried about security. Companies are well aware that a major security incident can put lives at risk but can also cause damage to a company's reputation and business for many decades.

Companies that are most vulnerable to terrorism or other forms of domestic violence are the ones with the greatest potential loss. Sports organizations, movie theatres, and theme park companies are all at risk of being victims of violent criminal activity. One such company is Disney, which has nine of the ten top-visited theme parks in the globe. Disney parks. These companies have to accept that not every theatre-goer needs a pat-down on the way in. No family visits Disneyland to show their child "The Place with the Most Police on Earth."

It is also possible to gauge how private companies respond to security threats by visiting theme parks such as Walt Disney World. The Walt Disney Company manages security in its parks independently from public law enforcement. They also stand to lose most if they don't feel their parks are safe. Disney is known for being transparent about security procedures. While increased security might not be visible in a park's parks, it is often discussed with the media. It is easy to assess the response to specific incidents of violence.

The most recent example comes from December 2015. This was when Disney announced that, in addition to metal detectors at the park entrances and secondary screenings, it now has secondary screenings randomized to ensure security. Additionally, dogs are trained to detect explosives in parks. A significant but less obvious step was the increase in uniformed security Guards on the grounds.Disneyland And Walt Disney World Uniformed personnel are more effective in preventing threats than plain-clothed staff, but they make guests feel safer. These measures show that Disney is, along with many other companies, feeling the impact of terrorist activity and the rise in violent crime throughout 2015.
