This project is a collective effort of Bianca "Binx" Beronio, Mary "Mae" Medellin, Ana Gabriela Medina, and Sol Roberts-Lemus, otherwise known as Team Hummingbird. As students in the Community-Engaged Research in Environmental Justice: Urban Bird Project class at the University of Texas San Antonio, we developed this digital humanities project to address a critical local issues. Our interdisciplinary approach combines scientific data with narrative storytelling to raise awareness about the ongoing problem of window collisions on campus. Every year, native birds are found dead as a result of these strikes, a silent but significant tragedy. Through this project, we aim to highlight the rich biodiversity that exists on our campus and inspire action to continue to protect Texas' tiniest warriors.
