If the student did poorly on the letter ID assessment, then you should use Clip-A-Letter activity.
For this activity students will match lowercase letters on clothespins to uppercase letters on a circle by:
First, place the uppercase letter circle and clothespins on a flat surface.
Second, students will take turns choosing a clothespin, name the letter they choose (e.g. the letter “b”) and place the clothespin onto the corresponding uppercase letter on the circle.
Next, students will continue going through this process until they match all letters
Lastly, students will have a peer evaluation
If the student did poorly on the high frequency word assessment, then you should use the Word Memory Game activity that focuses on high frequency words.
For this strategy, students will practice reading high frequency words while playing a memory game by:
First, placing the high frequency word cards face down in rows.
Next, taking turns, students select two cards, read them orally, and determine if they match.
Next, if there is a match (e.g., would, would), pick up cards and place to the side. If cards do not
match (e.g., me, tell), return them to their original places.
Continue until all matches are made.
Lastly, students will have a peer evaluation
