Meet the hosts

Tales from the Pits started in 2017 as two friends who loved to cook, eat, and talk about barbecue. Since then, we've traveled the country visiting restaurants and recording interviews with many great people in the barbecue world.

We've recorded episodes at Charleston Wine and Food, Red Dirt BBQ and Music Fest, Houston BBQ Festival, and many others, and we have been fully immersed in the barbecue and live-fire grilling world for several years.

  • We own a barbecue retail business, Doubleback BBQ, LLC

  • We co-produced and sponsored Sausage Wars, a sausage-making competition event that included some of Texas' top pitmasters

  • We have cooked with acclaimed chefs and pitmasters at special events including Windy City Smokeout in Chicago and the Smoked Dallas Festival.

Over the past four years, we have produced and hosted Tales From The Pits, a podcast devoted to all facets of the barbecue and grilling world. We have published over 165 episodes highlighting some of the biggest names in barbecue in the United States. We have interviewed James Beard Award Winners, acclaimed barbecue pit builders, photographers, and dozens of hard working, dedicated business owners.
