Artist statement

Sadly, most of my ideas for the final project could not happen due to the weather and time crunch. I also had a budget as well, so I needed to be careful with how much I spent. The weather for this weekend was not exactly ideal for my original plan so because of this I then needed to plan B. Plan A would not unfortunately work as I wanted it to due to the rain. I wanted to put the masks in a real tree but because it was going to rain all night, I was forced to make a plan B. For plan B I plan on using a dark room with the masks, covid balls and the light sculpture to record my project. I am sadly not going to use augmented reality as I planned due to a time crunch. What I am going to do instead is that I will be using my i-pad for the background sound of the video and record the video with my phone.

The time crunch of this project also made this more difficult due to the amount of stress to make this look as good looking as possible with little time. As for the budget I needed to be careful with how much I spent on this project. With though I did however get most of the materials that I needed for this project. So, with everything that I got for this project I used what I had to try to complete this project. While using the paint I could not get a sponge as I planned but to lack of time, but I did manage to get a nice effect on the disgusted mask. The amount of time that each mask took to paint was around two days. As for the covid balls this only took one day and the push in pins took hours to paint. I had to paint them carefully so that it did not have massive gobs of paint that looked off.

The covid tree is about the emotions that people were feeling during the pandemic. The most common emotions people were feeling during this pandemic were fear, sadness, anger and disgust. The fairy lights in this project represent hope that the pandemic will end. The wire tree represents the emotions, and the masks are the fruit that people pick from. The overall project is about how people were feeling during this pandemic. This tree also reflects my overall feelings during this pandemic. During this pandemic I was not only angry, but I had many moments of fear, sadness and disgust. The fear mask is not the only thing in this project that represents fear for me. Another thing that represents fear for me are the covid-19 balls. Those covid-19 ball represent my overall fear of getting sick. I added screaming sound effects because it represents my inner thoughts during this pandemic. I also had tons of nightmares of this pandemic as well. This project represents my thoughts of the pandemic and how much I want it to end
